Chartered Accountants Ireland and CPA Ireland have amalgamated with effect from September 1.
The amalgamation of the two Institutes, has created the largest professional body on the island of Ireland, and indeed and the only Irish accountancy body.

The amalgamation brings together 38,400 members and 6,600 students under the one umbrella, with a stronger unified voice to advocate on behalf of members, students and the wider public. This amalgamation has been about strengthening the accountancy profession for generations to come.

As a result of the amalgamation, Nuala McGowan, founder of McGowan Accountancy Services is now a Chartered Accountant as well as Certified Public Accountant, which is reflected in the designation CPA / ACA
